Have you ever gone in for a Massage and walked out feeling like your LMT was somewhere else?

5 Ways that You can find the right Massage Therapist for you are:

1.When you call for an appointment, check and make sure the therapist listens well. That can tell a lot about a person. The best therapists are mindful and have skill with healthy contact.

2. Ask your Therapist if they use a routine. Massage Therapists who do aren’t necessarily gearing the session towards you. You deserve to have your needs met, so ask for a tailored body massage.

3.Find a Massage Therapist who has experience. They may charge more than someone out of school, but their Presence, Their Hands, and Wisdom will show your body how to discover what it needs to heal and balance out. When a Massage Therapist is mindful through practice and experience, the work moves beyond basic techniques. Trust the connection and see what happens!

4.Conversation during the session can be very helpful- if it comes from the client and is about the client. However, massage time is not about the life of the Massage Therapist. It’s Ok to ask your therapist for a quiet space. It’s often in silence that the most important things can be heard and found.

5. Build a relationship with your Massage Therapist if you are finding healthy results.  Often clients follow the best coupon or deal.  But when you commit to your own health and share that with your Massage Therapist, the journey deepens.  Deeper relationships build deeper experiences.

Getting to understand your body through manual touch can change your life.  The body is the doorway into the whole human experience. Massage Therapy can help you understand this.  Take the dive and free yourself from stress, tension and pain into something new.

Healing Old Trauma with Massage

Love with Contact is the Best Healer

Children are naturally trusting and they have basic needs. They look to adults for acceptance, love, nourishment and so much more so that they can grow and thrive in this world.

Yet statistics say that child abuse is reported every 10 seconds.

In most cases, children adapt and survive many cases of abuse and trauma, but that doesn’t mean that the mind and body have processed the whole experience/s. So as adults, often in a trusting massage relationship, emotions and sensations come up as the body eventually reveals old patterns that may have developed as a defensive reaction. Traumas can include something like falling off a bike as a child, being scared by a loud argument, re-occurring abandonment situations or being terrorized by an event. Most people have touched into some type of trauma whether small or life impacting and developed strategies to cope with life without being fully aware. But through a series of mindful massage and bodywork the body’s own intelligence can set the pace for healing. Not only in the body, but the sensory information is related to the brain as well to restore balance.
Opening the human heart through gentle contact to heal past trauma.

Craniosacral Therapy

As a massage therapist, Sharon Hartnett LMT, has trained to work with trauma at the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, and the Upledger Institute to understand how the body holds and can release trauma in safe environment. She has worked with soldiers, victims of rape, neglected children and adults who face physical challenges due to accidents in their childhood. In the massage therapy sessions, counseling is not provided , but what does happens is that dialogue can help the process open up. As the younger “child consciousness” show up organically, support and love are held without judgment. When the younger energy is acknowledged, accepted, cared for, and allowed to feel deeply, often the process is able to complete and no longer circulates as anxiety and reactionary systems anymore.

Sometimes, when talk therapy doesn’t help with a physical challenge, going to a trained massage therapist LMT, who trained in ethics and in holding a compassionate container to support their clients in this process, will be the way out. When no other avenues have helped you to integrate, the body intelligence may be able to complete your healing through the mind, body, and spirit connection.

It’s important to say that this is more of a self educational type of session as Massage Therapists are not licensed psychologists or such. The Massage Sessions are one of Self-Discovery that has helped many to find inner peace and love.

Craniosacral Therapy

Massage Therapist

Sharon Hartnett LMT ( licensed massage therapist ), CST (Cranialsacral Therapist)  is a nationally licensed professional Massage Therapist with over 16 years of experience, who specializes in pain relief, posture re-alignment and mindful body awakening.  What this mean for you is that she works holistically to bring you back to center and feeling better in your body.

When you come in for a session, the first 15 minutes is oriented toward intake and learning about your history and what brings you into the office.  This is offered for free during the first massage session so that your needs and background can be expressed.  No rushing within this timeframe.  The quality of the sharing helps Sharon to set a basic format for the session, yet at the same time stay open to the moment for whatever needs to happen during the table work.

The three areas where Sharon focuses are the:

  1. Fascial System
  2. Craniosacral System
  3. The Energy System

The fascia is key is helping to relieve physical pain.  It is the material that holds all the contents in your body together.  Without it,  we would be a liquid puddle on the floor.  That’s how important the fascia is to our wellbeing.  By listening and following the fascial diaphragms and layers, it’s easy to hydrate and differentiate the tissues to allow the body to release and come back into natural balance.  It also helps circulation, lymphatic flow, and basic body dialogue to enhance overall body functioning.

The Craniosacral Therapy is geared toward listening to the activity around the brain and the spinal cord.  By following the cranium’s bones rhythmic motion of the cerebral spinal fluid,  one can support the body, especially the nervous system, to balance and feel enlivened.

The body is full of energy movement.  Whether it be the liquids, the nervous systems or connection between the organs.  When there is a block, it feels disordered.  By connecting and releasing the “energy cysts” one can restore vitality and flow.   This can feel like pressure is relieved or that more space is available for the body to relax.

Sharon Hartnett has been a practicing massage therapist columbus.  Her current locations are in Upper Arlington and Johnstown, Ohio.

Sharon’s work is focused on relieving pain and helping clients to move into a more healthy and well lifestyle.  Because of her training with https://www.sensorimotorpsychotherapy.org she has also chosen to work with clients who have experienced trauma and has found no help elsewhere.  By approaching life through the mind body spirit connection, old fears and pain can dissolve, freeing up the client to create a healthier and more joyful life.  Life can be approached from a gentler light touch or from stronger and deeper touch that meets the client in the current state.  Through listening and dialogue, the job is to connect and release the body from pain and tension, to open the connection to essence and wisdom.
