We are in the process of creating this site for an Upcoming Healing Retreat Center in the Columbus area that is focused on integrating a variety of different Massage Therapies to support growth, health and wellbeing.

The foundation of the Massage and Energy Therapy work will be based on Craniosacral Therapy with adjunct therapies being integrated into the work.  This is a community based effort, and we are in the early stage of development.  If you are interested or have something to bring to the Creation of a Massge Therapy Center, call Sharon Hartnett at:

In the meantime,  Sharon Hartnett , Licensed Massage Therapist for over 18 years,  has returned to the Columbus area to begin a Private Massage Practice based on the foundational work of Dr. John Upledger (www.Upledger.com) in March 2013.  She is an Advanced Massage Therapist in Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and works with the theory of Dr. John’s “Inner Physician”.  What this means is that the Massage Therapy is done by listening and trusting the inherent wisdom that is found in the Craniosacral System and supporting and dialoguing with that movement to bring the body, especially the nervous system, back into symmetry, strength and full potential.  This type of Massage Therapy uses a very subtle touch, but the effects are powerful.  One of the features that is also nice about Craniosacral Massage Therapy is that is may be used with other types of Massage Therapy.  At Lighten Up Therapies,  some of the complementary modalities that are used are:  Structural Integration Massage- developed by Dr. Ida Rolf, Brennan Healing Science- created by the esteemed Dr. Barbara Brennan, Author of “Hands of Light, Visceral Manipulation Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massge, Hot Stone Therapy Massage,  Hakomi, Thai stretches among a few.  Sharon also has extensive training in Supervising Groups and is trained to work with clients who have experience or are in the throes of trauma life issues.

Lighten Up Therapies has planted its seed and will be in Columbus starting this May. We will be working on the ultimate goal of bringing Massage Therapists together on her family’s farm to help create Massage in Columbus Ohio Therapy Center.

“The Journey” 

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice –
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do –
determined to save
the only life you could save.
